Sara Socas.Tenerife
Saturday, 22 August. 10:30 p.m.
Plaza de Nuestra Señora de las Nieves. Taganana
We are delighted to present Sara Socas at this seventh edition. Hailing from Tegueste, one of the most international voices in the Canary Islands comes to the Taganana Festival with a performance that highlights her energy on stage and lyrics that will leave no one indifferent.
Sara Socas burst onto the MC battle scene in 2017 and quickly established herself as one of the most recognised figures in freestyle thanks to her courage, talent and precision. Her competitive career led her to obtain important national and international recognition and opened the doors to artistic collaborations with past and present hip hop icons. In 2023, she began a new artistic phase, focusing on her career as a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, presenting her first single, AllStar. At the VII Taganana Festival, she brings us her new creation, TFN-MAD, in band format, a solid musical project of her own, a powerful live performance that expands her sound universe and reinforces her projection within the urban music scene.

The synergy between the Taganana Festival and Africa has been forged over the last four years. Our roots are linked with those of Africa, allowing us to listen to the continent closest to the Canary Islands, with which we share synergies and listening experiences.
Lornoar is one of Cameroon's great female voices. A singer, composer and guitarist, her music is rooted in the Eton tradition and open to contemporary sounds such as soul, jazz, funk and Afro-pop. Her powerful and expressive voice conveys emotion, spirituality and commitment, captivating audiences on stages around the world. Michel Mbarga is one of the most renowned guitarists in Central Africa. A virtuoso of bikutsi and a profound connoisseur of traditional Cameroonian music, he plays electric and acoustic guitars, balafon and nkul, combining technique, rhythm and sensitivity in an unmistakable personal style. In this exceptional concert, Lornoar and Michel Mbarga unite their artistic universes to guide the audience on a musical journey through the tropical rainforests of Cameroon, in the heart of Africa. Surrounded by a group of highly skilled instrumentalists, they create a richly nuanced sound experience, where oral tradition, ancestral rhythms and contemporary languages coexist naturally.

Aníbal Llarena was born in Tenerife and from an early age became interested in all aspects of the archipelago's culture, particularly history, geography, clothing, language, literature, and traditional music, dance and music. For her part, Belén A. Doreste, a native of Gran Canaria and now known as LAJALADA (formerly Bel Bee Bee), composes and produces music for various musical projects, both her own and others', audiovisuals, shows, etc. In 2022, she received the Canarian Music Awards for best song and best pop-rock album for ‘DMÑNNS’, works that combine roots and the present. Aníbal & Lajalada come together to blend the folklore of the Canary Islands, its rhythms and melodies with a contemporary, electronic perspective, sounds from the present world and the imaginary in a set that combines roots, ancestry and modernity, in a perfectly compact today and tomorrow.

To keep the music flowing between concerts, the great Victor Carballeira will be giving it his all in three DJ sessions, getting everyone dancing with his characteristic energy.
Victor Carballeira has been mixing and selecting music for over thirty years, delighting audiences in the Canary Islands, London, Madrid and Barcelona. His personal way of understanding music and his energy have led him to showcase his work in very special places: he was the first selector/DJ to provide the soundtrack for the Reina Sofía National Art Museum (Madrid), a pioneer of the famous Skalextric in Tenerife and the driving force behind Canarias at the Hotel, a multidisciplinary festival featuring Canarian artists that toured London, Madrid and Barcelona. His Anaga Sets, designed specifically for the evening in Taganana, will liven up the Plaza de Nuestra Señora de las Nieves with a vibrant mix of traditional and contemporary sounds, where Canarian roots dialogue with world music.
